Auto CAD? Corel Paint? Anything? The easiest way for me is to make a 3D model of the car using Metasequoia. (google for it) It´s important to keep the shapes as simple as possible remembering the double curvature limitation of a papeer sheet. Next step is to unfold the 3D model into a 2D patern using Pepakura. Finaly, you can export this pattern to a program like Corel, or Photoshop and paint your model. Try to get more infos with some Pepakura/Metasequoia users.

An excellent paint program I found on the internet, that is worth trying, is called Paint.NET and it is free. It was produced through a collaborative effort of some college students and it rivals some of the high priced programs out there. Just do a search for Paint.NET Yes that is the name of it, not a url. (paintdotnet) With Paint.NET you will have to also download the Microsoft .net framework which it needs to run. There is a link for this on the front page of Paint.NET site so you don't have to worry about finding it.
