While I work out final parts for the BMW LMR kit, I've kicked off research and drawings for the Peugeot 908 project. This car has haunted Audi for the last three years, winning Le Mans outright last year and returning this year in fine form with an overall win at Sebring just last week. One of a few modern 'coupes' and an interesting study in the Bentley ( Speed 8) - Peugeot ( 905 Evo 2) - Allard ( J2X) school of spidery prototype design. Should make for a very interesting model. Process footnote: years ago I would make iViewMedia galleries to organize source images, but these days iPhoto's alternate databases let me organize images on a by-project basis and create handy sub-galleries for focused topics. My source technical drawings are built up around a 'template' based on the ACO's proscribed rules and regulations for this era of LMP cars. Next steps, resolve the model architecture approach, and then start work in Metasquoia.

Little catch up on this project. After some extensive research, I've got the lineage of this car's development over its 4 seasons mapped out. The most visible external tweeking over time was done to the rear panels so the forward bodywork can carry through all versions (Le Mans low-drag trim being an exception). This is 2009/2010 version (narrow-wing regulations). The model's bodywork is 80%-ish done here. The proportions and dimensions fit the regulations and match all the source images with a high degree of confidence. Under the skin is also a monocoque chassis and I've just started blocking in the drivetrain. It's gonna be nice. (This render is my Metasequoia file converted to 3DS and rendered in Rhino's Mac beta. I'm just starting to fumble around with Rhino's lights and shaders... good stuff) Attachments:

Looks very promising. Will there be an interior?

Looks very promising. Will there be an interior? That's the plan... hope to keep the parts shaping as simple as possible, and rely on surface art. As Ponytail wisely once said to me "don't drown in the details"

Update on progress for those who aren't keeping tabs on Prototyp's Facebook page: Body is quite close to nailed down as are the major mechanical chunks. Regulation-spec underfloor is done as is the core tub monocoque. Interior and suspension work is underway.

Little more work on this pup left to do... Primarily suspension parts and interior panels (working out the footwell stuff now)... Anxious to test-build the bodywork but I'm forcing myself to wait until I have proper fixtures in place to enable 'removable' body panels.

Thanks Ryan! Still going strong, that's Tops!
I'm not a FB-er... so I'm glad you keep us informed here at the "old media" too
As you say "you're anxious", well we, at least I, are also.
Keep on.
Greetings PT
