In (the) Netherlands we are 'suffering'an big hype in motorsports and Racing. We have Max Verstappen in Formula-1, or Racing Team Nederland in Endurance. All with good results.
Also 'we' have Rinus van Kalmthout in the Indycar at the Ed Carpenter-team. In US better known as Rinus Veekay.
This car:
Unfortunatly there are no papermodels of the cars of the first 2 mentioned, but there is an almost paper model of Veekay's car: Sunny78 has the 2017-2018 Indycar which "just" needs another livery-skin and the awful halo-screen added. This inspired me to try to accomplish this modelconversion.
Started with 'printing' the files into HiRes PDF-pages with the Pepakura-viewer. I use PaintShopPro to work on them. PSP opens pdf's fine, but cannot save as such, therefore they are changed and reworked in it's native psp-file, which also has layers. The psp-codec seems lossless also...
I use 4 layers, from bottom to top: background(=original file), area's (=the basic colors), logo's&lines(=the logo and details), folding lines(=original file with no skin).
My working-system is: first I select the desired space on the area-layer using underlaying and visible backgroundlayer. The fill the space withe the desired color.
If the background-layer has a detail or part I want to use I remove the color there to make it visible again. Simple select and cut.
Next is adding the logo's and other details as rivets or lines. There I use the third layer. First make layer 2 invisible and draw the lines, place the rivets and the logo's using layer 1 as reference. Sometimes a part like a rivet has to be drawn or improved.
Biggest issue is finding all logo's. Here is Google your friend and luckily Ed Carpenters'site has a list of all of his sponsors and of most of them I found the desired hires pictures. Some reworking was necessairy, but easy to do. Using hires pictures makes them not to lose much quality when rescaling.
This is where I am now:
Left the reworked page, right is original.
