I'm new to making my own models, and now have pepakura. I'm going to 'cheat' in the first instance, and use one of the free 3D models that are available from 3D cad sites. (Aston Martin DV7 Vanquish) I can import the model SOMETIMES but occasionally Pep. freezes and my entire computer when I'm importing. The bar goes up to 99% then hangs. Also, on a trial run with another model, the 'unfold' button worked fine, but I had around 200 tiny parts all on one page. I can't see how to zoom in on any particular parts. The zoom just enlarges the whole page centre. Are there any tutorials out there I can use to get up and running? Roy.

if your "cheat" model is too high polygon, which sounds like the promblem you have, i would suggest finding or making one that is low polygon. there are some good ones at turbosquid if you dont mind spending money. on your model, make sure that it's body is comletely closed space an that there are only ever two faces attched to one edge, because pepakura doesn't like that.

to change the layout of the parts, right click on the development window to get a list of tools. select and move part does what it is, as with the rotate part tool. the join/disjoin faces tool is abit more complicated. it can join parts that go together together tomake your model simpler and have less parts. the coulor edge tool is pretty obvious, and the edit flaps tool letsyou change the tab size and shape. you can also make th whole ting bigger by looking at the top for change development scale
