nah, the skins are always .dds i think .mas is where all the 3d work goes. i'm no modder, but i like skinning cars for rfactor.

Hi mariscal If it's possible, could you post a little tutorial about how to extract the models from games (rFactor for example) to open them in Metasequoia or Zmodeler? There are many F1 cars that I wish to see in papermodels, but I can't find good references (blueprints, 3 views etc). Extracting these model we can edit them and make good papermodels Please, think about it.

What is you need to know? To make a complete step by step tutorial could be a lot of time.

igoraf and Mariscal, I see you both want to create more models. Come and join the 'building team' lol of BrawnGP, TWCY, pielighter and me. We share blueprints, textures and even a 26 steps from A to Z tutorial.
To answer the above questions. From GP3 to Zmodeler, Metasequoia or Sketchup is impossible. From rFactor, it's possible but you end up with thousands of faces, just like Mariscal said. I recommend you use ordinary blueprints. I set up mine at a length of 800 to 900 pixels. If you don't find THE blueprint you need, then deal with the blueprints of similar cars... The textures from rFactor can be used on Metasequoia. It saves a lot of time.

The model from the Rfactor apart from that it is too much complicated, sometimes not real, because the modders can have misstakes too. I love the Rfactor F1 1988 mod of Carrera but the Arrows A10b is far not good, even for a reference.
I use photos and if I have blueprints ro make my models.
