The sketchup can be a good tool for developing paper models, even though its main application is the 3D design. Moreover, as far as I know, he has no feature to unfold. There are other programs that can be used, such as AutoCAD, Zmodeler, 3D Studio, Rhinoceros, GIMP, Milkshape (used by Claudio in developing their models on his website - peperinside). Unless the GIMP, all programs are paid and some are cost-prohibitive for the average user. The Metasequoia, even with some limitations, highly plays this role as well, together with the Pepakura, and, even being paid, the cost is much lower and affordably. So, I get the suggestion of Robert. P.S.: see here a good "how to": sekiai.net/fms/Metasequoia_e.htm
