I recently disover this site and I was (to say the least) amaze by what can be done with paper.
I am trying to understand the process to make paper model so here is what I understood so far by reading the posts:
Step 1- Model the car in 3D using metasequoia (from 3 view drawings or import from other car racing software?) (are those 3d model available anywhere on this site?) (whre do you get good 3 views of NASCAR model?)
Step 2- Paint the model (corel draw, from scale model decals or created from scratch?)
Step 3- Export into paperuka to unfold the painted model (how you decide the parting line?)
Step 4- Cut and glue the part to instructions (any preferred tools?)
I would very much enjoy trying the whole process on my own so any detailed instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, it was close First I get the best pictures possible of the car. Pics of the side and front are important, of course. Then, I model it in a 3D program like Metasequoia. During this processes you need to map the model and apply the textures arround it. After mapping the model, you export the wireframe and use it in a painting program like photoshop to make the paint scheme of the car. When the model is done, open it in Pepakura and unfold it. You must decide where to fold and where to cut. Simple as that!

Thanks Robert,
I am a big fan of your work and I will give it a try. Any good site to find pictures of NASCAR? I find personally that NASCAR official site is not a good place to find pictures (their lost).
Thank you again for your time to respond. If you ever decide to write detailed instructions (like how to place the image on the planes to start the 2d sketches, how to make line into surface etc..) let us know because I am sure there are lots of members that want to initiate their own model.
Keep on the good work.

Thanks, man. I get the pics from jayski.com You should find some metasequoia tutorial to give you the step-by-step. I think that in cardmodels.net there are some for links for video tutorials.
